At this point, it seems like Randy might be able get those to us before Mopoz, Quasar. Still, I can't complain about all the progress we've made by just shaking the tree a little. These are some exciting developments and a really good reason for me to get back to SNES Doom again so soon. I realized there's no slowdown with all those Cybers and Spiders. Can any of the bit versions boast that with just one 1 Cyber and 1 Spider? Me and Cacodemontube got the same problem when we've tried to convert D1 E3M5 to SNES format. Cacodemontube tried to do this before me I didn't asked him about this so I did my conversion without knowing that he already tried and got same problem. I'll show pictures from my conversion. On third screen the game freezes. If I walk into the room without pauses, I can go a little bit, but the game still freezes. We don't know what is this. I've tried to delete those colums, it doesn't help. BTW, as I said earlier about TNT Map discoveries, I had to rotate the whole map to fit the playerstart pointing in right direction. It doesn't help too, you'll get this freeze no matter how the map rotated, so this is the sector problem I suppose, not sure. Even more, if you go the the right part of map, it would be ok UNTIL you'll look in direction of this problematic part. The game will freeze too. He have created more problems with this decision. Despite that, I respect his requirement, so I can't provide tools or something else. So we'll have to deal with hypotheses. BTW, Mopoz is still gone, that's kinda disturbing too. Even more, I think I'm going to convert PSX to SNES. It would be the best way. Of course, I'll also simplify it, but it would be easier to handle the map. It runs at a slow framerate, but I didn't see it slow down more there at all. It's also surprising since the SNES is so prone to slowdown with a bunch of big sprites, and screen changes. Despite better color and sound capabilities than Genesis, it had about half the processing speed about 3. Of course the 32X was way more powerful, but sometimes companies like Acclaim just slapped a Genesis game into a 32X cart and charged a premium price. Many SNES games used special chips on their cartridge, Doom SNES is one of them. So you cannot just compare the base console specs of Genesis and the SNES. You also cannot really compare the performance and graphics of games that use different hardware, for example you cannot compare Doom SNES to a normal SNES cartridge game. Base Genesis was faster but SNES has better gfx capabilities and more memory. And the SNES games that use special chips are way ahead of the Genesis games. Only one Genesis game used a special chip, that 3D racer ported from the arcades. Sega CD had a faster CPU and the 32X even faster. No, I gave up. PSX Doom version of map if simpler BUT SNES Doom freezes in playerstart area. PC Version was better in this question. I've tried few other maps to convert them into SNES Doom. And only freaking wow. wad worked fine! I got so angry so I don't want to work with SNES maps at this time. Mopoz is idiot. But since it's closed beta, results sucks. Pretty cool no. That's disappointing, but thanks for trying. It would definitely be more effective if it was an open beta, big agree on that. To think that the SNES port has big levels like Computer Station, Deimos Lab, Halls of the Damned, Slough of Despair, Mt. Erebus, and Limbo; Central Processing, Containment Area, Command Center, Spawning Vats, and Unholy Cathedral should have worked fine too. Since SNES Doom was my first real experience with Doom besides the shareware version - I didn't have a PC, but I got to play it on a school computer , I'd absolutely love to have a playaround with this. This is literally my childhood here. Snes Doom was also my first experience with Doom. I spend thousands of hours playing it with Snes Wolf3D too that even I stopped playing other games. I had many nightmares playing new levels on Snes Doom, now I think my dreams were just some kind of prophecies of what was coming in the future. I've wanted to try SNES renditions of the cut maps for a long time. Awesome to see so many people interested in this project! What makes you say that? Anyways, the guy I was talking to was mopoz. He told me everything uses RLE compression, which I thought from the start but now I know for sure.
