Assemblers; Labs; Furnaces; Electric miners; Oil Refinery's; Pump Jacks; Anything else i have forgotten? Also, is it best to always use level 3. The best example would be oil deposits. Another good place to use speed modules would be for assembly machines which make products that take. Efficiency is the best go to module to slap into everything when in doubt because it has only upsides. Especially good in miners since 3 level 1. The 4th slot of the assembler will allow a 50% more efficient Module configuration ON TOP of the 5 times efficiency of the efficiency module. This is why it's best paired with the Speed Module. Efficiency Module. Factorio Modules Efficiency. To give a simple description, the Efficiency. another messed up template. The layout looks good, but the ratio isn't right. Related to the cheat sheet the ratio should be. Solar fields can be downright massive, and fairly expensive to set up. If your factory is full of efficiency modules, it can wind up using. items/undefined, belts, surplus/undefined, factories, modules, beacons, power. Type: Sankey diagram. Boxes and lines. Direction: Horizontal Vertical. A compendium of the most common Factorio game facts, such as build ratios, tips/tricks, and links to further information.
There's so much in Factorio that makes it amazing, however, there are also aspects that make it rather frustrating. One of the most common is when you start expanding your factory and building countless machines that all seem to run at a snail's pace. Luckily you have the option of adding in modules that can make even the most annoying machine your favorite. They won't completely change the game but will make your factory a little more efficient and allow you to get the materials you want quickly and with a lot less damage to the world around you. That being said, understanding what these contraptions do is a little frustrating. Worry not, because this is all you need to know. Modules are essentially designed to enhance your building's capabilities. They can do a multitude of things that will make your life easier, however, they're pretty expensive and can be annoyingly time-consuming. Nevertheless, they can greatly improve your factory in more ways than one and should be prioritized as soon as you find yourself in a little bit of a hole. Thankfully, there aren't too many modules for you to get hold of unless you can find a mod that increases the number of machines or modules. There are only three modules in Factorio at the moment, so it won't be too challenging when picking which one you want. Each has its purpose and each has three different tiers that increase its effectiveness on your struggling machines. At a simple description, the Speed Module increases the speed and energy consumption of any machine you put the module into. It comes with its positives and negatives as well as having three tiers of effect. Obviously the higher you go the more costly it gets but the more powerful it becomes, so it's up to you which one you go for. While these modules may speed up your machine as well as increasing their efficiency if matched with a productivity module , they can have their negatives. Namely, it increases your energy use per cycle and therefore produces a lot more pollution. It makes sense that the quicker the machine the more energy it takes but it's something to keep an eye out for. The Productivity Module is paired well with the Speed Module, however, just like its pairing, this module comes with its ups and downs. First of all, the Productivity Module essentially adds a purple bar to your AI when you place the module inside item-producing buildings. The module itself acts to speed the bar up if present through completed research or will add an amount to the bar equal to the percentage of the module you put in. The positive is the fact you can get a free item. The negative is the idea that it can only be placed in machines that can make intermediate products and the fact that it can slow the machine quite drastically. This is why it's best paired with the Speed Module. To give a simple description, the Efficiency Module serves to reduce the electricity you need to run your machines. It will decrease your energy usage and therefore your pollution too so that's one less thing to worry about. It's also something that requires a little thought because if you use it with productivity modules you may get worse than what you intended. Certain machines will end up making it so the efficiency gain is lower than what a Speed Module can give you, so keep an eye out and see which is going to be better for you and your machine. The best time to use modules is when you find you're lacking in a certain aspect. But there's more than just necessity behind these useful additions. The Speed Modules are useful when a resource is infinite but your resource pool is pretty low. Or you could use it for assembly machines that take ages and you just don't want to wait anymore, like engine units. As for the Productivity Module, try to use that when a resource becomes pretty hard to find or make. More advanced products are better for this sort of module, even if it takes loads of energy and a bit more time to make. Look for the machines that use recipes that consume loads of resources and place them on that machine, then the free items will come rolling in. The Efficiency Module will be perfect for machines that use a lot of power, like Electric Furnaces. That being said, make sure you don't use the higher tier modules unless all you're looking for is to reduce pollution. Not that the Efficiency Module is useless, but you should look at a Speed Module before throwing this one on everything. One of the most important things to remember is that modules don't have diminishing returns. Essentially if you have an assembler that's making two items every second then adding one speed module at tier three will increase that production by speeding the assembler up by one second. This stops the modules from becoming too overpowered. Ultimately, it's all about being smart and tactical with them, so try them out, see what works for what machine and you'll quickly master this rather confusing aspect of Factorio.
