Very easy to brute force 3 digit locks, most you get within 5 - 10 minutes. And if you got single walls, 2 players can easily jump over them. Unfortunately since patch this method doesn't work. After people saw my other videos and how I had cracked open + 4 dial combination locks on Dayz a few people asked how to start cracking. Try to use a firefighter axe or a sledgehammer, these are the 2 only tools that are able to break a combination lock on the server I'm playing. 3 digit combination locks are made to be opened and so are the 4 digit safes however most people consider that impossible to crack due to. To cycle a combination lock ingame by one digit takes about 3 seconds The server uses a mod so you cant break buildings from outside. How do you break a combination lock? В· Turn right three times. This happens because it only needs 3 digits to open a lock - if you are a team of 4 people or more it is just a matter of minutes and you have the combination. Now it is possible to change downgrade and upgrade again combination locks. Which means that bruteforcing does not just open a door - it let's you change the combination. As far as I am aware, you cannot downgrade buildings if you're not the owner or a friend of the owner. Could this be a server-side config option in future? Sorry, something went wrong. Building the pole 'underground' may help out with this problem, no one can reach it there. But that means - if the player dies who set up the poles - no one will ever build there again because no one can remove the pole which is no longer attached to the player. A 4 digit lock would be fine, but in my opinion 3 digits are not enough. And a timer between wrong tries can help here too, but not as good as more digits would do. Waiting 30 secs between wrong tries may prevent some players from bruteforcing, but if the group is big enough the time is not worth anything.. The current build uses a random temporary lockout that should make it possible to crack over time. In our opinion that is a reason why base building doesnt make sense. Without that, epoch doesn't have that much more to offer than vanilla DayZ.. And that's very sad, because the modular base building, trader cities etc are so great that I am not going to buy DayZ Standalone. DayZ Epoch is much better by now! But it is still possible. The best thing would be if the locks are absolutely safe! Which means that other players can get in, change the codes and stay in your base. Making it impossible to break is not what we are trying to do. If you have a plot pole hidden away in your base they cannot take the lock. Bases are always going to be built and then abandoned so that another player take it over at this point. If the locks are impossible the crack you will just see player destroying everything. The fact that players would rather crack the lock then break down the wall shows that it is working as we intended. Just to point out another thing you have not considered is that, the current base building is Level 1 wood, Level 2 Cinder we are not even done flushing out the levels yet and a "better" lock maybe in the works. Good - but like i mentioned above Plot Poles don't affect downgrading things. Maybe it is a bug - but so far I can tell tbhat it is possible to remove and upgrade the walls within the range of a plot pole.. Fixed for 1. Skip to content. New issue. Jump to bottom.
