One thing I've learned from our efforts to get a lot of directly-comparable screenshots on our sub is that different people can compare the same screenshots and come up with very different conclusions, because we aren't all looking for the same things. That said, we don't really have a lot of direct comparisons of weather mods yet A series of "Weather Mod Comparison" posts would be very cool. Some things would need to be decided on though:. It could easily turn into a very large project. If you are genuinely interested though, feel free to start a separate post and ask for volunteers. Or I can start the post to gauge interest if you'd like? I'd join in for at least one or two weather mod combos. Count me down for at least NAT ;-. Whoever does this would have to be careful to not load from a save between tests and properly disable and remove the mods each time plus the game restart after installing new ones. So long as the weather is not reverted to vanilla, weather mod fragments will remain in your save causing other weather mods to not appear correctly for proper comparison. Regardless, I would love to see something like this, would certainly make for a helpful comparison resource! That makes sense, a consistent removal and hard reset procedure should be included in the process to ensure each set of screenshots is true to its weather mod s. Do you think it important to remove all prior weather mods, or might disabling be sufficient? If so, some might have room to load up another weather mod or two and contribute a couple more sets of screenshots with minimal fuss? Something like that should work fine. Tbh I was thinking about an ongoing game save when you initially mentioned this lol but if you use a fresh one each time I would think this should work ok. Of course some mods can get baked into the game but this would probably be too difficult to account for on the off chance it happens. Maybe something like revert to vanilla settings might help but is likely going overboard here. I think you have the right idea with simply disabling followed by a restart and a fresh save, that sounds like a good direction! Because of just how dynamic weather mods are, I feel like it might be a good idea to capture a number of different weathers in set locations. Maybe one with mountains, trees and water for LODs and sun reflections. A city like riften, winterhold or elsewhere. Different biomes dry, marsh etc. Different weather types sun, rain, mist, fog. Sunset, mid day, sunrise, night time. Just brainstorming. Well to the best of my abilities that is lol. Keep thinking of great ideas! I might get it posted later today Sounds like a good idea, whenever you have the time for it of course! It specially showcases 11 types of weathers in 11 locations of Skyrim where they are best showcased, highly recommend giving it a look for reference ideas. Of course these types of locations could be increased maybe adding in cities, closer lighting for trees or something like this or decreased in quantity but figured it might help simply the initial brainwork a little. That's a good video! I looked at some weather videos many months back, but I don't recall seeing that one. Some great comparisons. I was pretty impressed with Haze, and I was surprised that I'd never heard of it I'm thinking we should limit the number of standardized weather screenshots to around 5 to 8. Also, each location needs to be very easy to precisely locate. Winter did like 10 sets of those pics by herself though Here's one view I'm kind of contemplating. It's between two of the Guardian Stones between Helgen and Riverwood This location includes forefront and far-distance background scenery. Mostly all landscape textures though. It could be a good location for probably any weather except snow:. I've also considered sticking with this Whiterun Tundra view from the crossroads that was used in an earlier collection of videos of comparing weather mod storms. It includes near and far-distance scenery along with some architecture in the mix. We'd also need a location for snow. Maybe something taken from the northside of Dawnstar like this? What would be a good location for fog? It seems like it would be ideal to include something with a lot of layers to see being gradually covered up Still some solid logic behind each setting. I actually used that location for my recent review. Though closer to the waters edge so I could better see water reflection in the foreground and background, I think I also had some rock in the foreground. I think that would be a solid location. This snow location to the northside of Dawnstar is absolutely perfect. Love the framing for this. You even get some city lighting. Ooh gravestones could be nice! I did like the the video utilizing a location with trees and fog that was another solid pick. Riften or the marshes around Morthal could likewise work. Sounds like a solid plan. Probably a good idea for the nights to specifically be clear as well. Though whatever is easiest! Climates of Tamriel Climates of Tamriel Darker Nights 1. Draco's Beuatiful Auroras Improved Shadows and Volumetric Honorable Mentions: R. Frostfall Some things would need to be decided on though: Standardized locations s? Perhaps Whiterun entrance? Scenic landscape view with a good long-distant LOD? Perhaps viewing over the lake between two of the guardian stones near Riverwood? Tundra view, like the videos already done at Whiterun crossing? A challenge with that though is that you can only post one video in a reddit post. Also, videos are considerably lower res than screenshots on Reddit at least Would any other standardized mods be present besides those from a weather mod combo? All standard vanilla textures OR possibly something of an improved-vanilla like Skyland AiO? Other details like a mountain mod? Exterior lantern mod like Claralux? Trying hard not to bother you with more questions but what whiterun overhaul is that?
