I bought it and then downloaded and played it and its great. My girlfriend who also plays 7d2d did a walk through on how do correctly download the mod launcher and then install darkness falls etc. When i load into the game it doesn't have characters on the buttons. Like new game exit controls etc. She does have another friend who has the same problem but gave up.
