I've heard a lot about how good this games skill system is, but what actually is the system. You have four attributes Intellect, Psyche, Fysique, and Motorics that govern six skills each. The level in your attribute affects how much you can raise a skill, as well as adds itself to all skill checks in its category. In game, you have passive skill checks that happen in dialog behind the scenes that serve to give you more information about things and active checks that you may choose to attempt. White checks can be repeated if you level up the associated skill, red checks are one time only. Each skill has a different personality and the stronger a skill gets, the more it chimes in during dialog and attempts to influence your behavior for better or worse. So those aren't dialogue choices? So why is the game called Disco Elysium anyway? But this game really help help you roleplay the downsides of having a min max stat.
