Teen, 16 years old Written by MagicalToasty June 21, Kid, 9 years old May 17, This game is dead this game is no longer supported so its dead only three ways to see it if you own it you can play it watch a video of it or watch it on netflix. This title contains: Ease of Play. There are combat portions, but they're only quick time events and not real time combat. The story is well-written for a Minecraft game, and was even adapted into an interactive TV series for Netflix. Historically, this game was very divisive, but if you enjoy Minecraft and stories, you should pick it up. It's dirt-cheap now and with the second season out, you can almost get two games for the price of one. No objectionable content besides some mild cussing. Everything looks exactly like Minecraft so violence is not an issue. Teen, 13 years old Written by sayaka April 15, I played the game all the time and I loved it. Coming here was a big mistake though cause there are big babies crying because somebody said 'hell' once. What the h, dude? Rude words, sure, but I'm sure your kids have heard worse in school I mean come on. Plus, those words are in a bunch of kids cartoons except for the baby ones. What, are you gonna ban your kids from playing every game and cartoon just because the characters say a few rude words? And about the violence, in the original Minecraft, there was explosions, fire, killing animals for food, killing a bunch of mobs, etc. This is basically it but animated a bit more. There's no blood whatsoever and if there was, it was a very, very small amount. Also, about the characters dying. It's supposed to be emotional. People dying is part of life. I never really cried at anyone's death, either, and I'm pretty sensitive. They made me sad, yeah, and I might've teared up a bit but that was it 8 year old me could handle this game. My sister also played it right when we got it and she was 5 at the time and even she could handle it. Calm down. March 11, This is probably one of the worst game series I've ever played. But please, just hear me out. The amount of plot holes in this story just made me hate it. But then later, in episode 4, Aiden helps Jesse and the gang to defeat the wither storm. And this is where it gets confusing. In episode 5, Aiden snatches Jesse's new discovery- the enchanted flint and steel- and steals it from him. When both sides got to Sky City, they started dueling each other out, and Aiden even threatened Jesse to "just die already". This doesn't make any logical sense. Your nemesis makes fun of you, then helps you defeat a monster, and finally threatens you to DIE. There isn't even any logic behind this as well. In addition to that, the game states that every single choice matters, but in reality, none of the choices are actually significant. I'd rather be playing a choose-your-own-adventure story where every choice leads to various elements of the plot, instead of just a normal story where you can choose different things for your character to say and doesn't even impact the plot at all! What's even the point? The only choice that somewhat makes an obvious difference is choosing who to save in episode 1 Gabriel or Petra , and at the end, that doesn't even matter. The plot is still the same, where Jesse and the gang aka the new Order of the Stone defeat the wither storm and continue to go on adventures. It's just really badly written in general, from a writer's perspective. And to be fair, Reuben's death didn't have any impact to the story. It's just the writer running out of ideas and decided to just kill off a character to make the viewers cry. The characters are also annoyingly stereotyped. There's the protagonist Mary Sue hero who saves the day, the pessimistic friend who lacks self confidence, the friendly big guy that just wants wholesomeness, the strong badass female warrior character, the popular and nice boy and finally, the animal companion. I've just seen these characters so many times it's not even funny anymore. Another point that I want to bring up is that this game has some mild swearing words such as "crap" or "damn" are frequently used in the story. Anyways, as a conclusion, this story is too confusing and just boring in general as none of the choices actually make an impact on the plot. This game is just so badly written and drafted, from a writer and story critic's perspective. Teen, 13 years old Written by -Applesauce January 25, Not for you're average 10 year old Minecraft Story Mode is a generic Minecraft spinoff with lots of interactive characters, places, and mobs to meet at. There is a decently planned out storyline, and they absolutely killed it on the gameplay. Words like d-mn or h-ll will frequently appear in the game. There is virtually no violence, or revealing clothing. But watch out because Telltale made a pretty dark spinoff of Minecraft. People get to choose how things turn out in the story, but inevitably people will break friendships, turn on you, argue, and sometimes even die. It has great role models like Petra and Jesse, and great messages on friendship, but I wouldn't recommend letting your 7-year old play this. Kid, 11 years old January 12, Why are people going insane over "bad words" Lets Face it, Its a great game. This title contains: Positive role models. Teen, 13 years old Written by notahumans December 9, Just Bad. Only the first level is free, and you don't even make a lot of decisions. All levels are free there They have swearing sometimes, and the sequel is also horrible!! Makes the Minecraft franchise, one of the greatest games ever, look like Caillou became a coder. Stick to classic Minecraft, and save your money people! Kid, 10 years old November 22, Popular game-based story holds an empowering message. Mild references to killing and dying. Sexy Stuff: One female character Lizzie wears a short skirt. Some romantic tension between Petra and Jesse, and a very, very mild attempt at seduction. Consumerism: The game is based on Minecraft, which is very popular. Drinking, Drugs, and Smoking: Characters occasionally drink unexplained potions. Positive Messages: Behind all that the game does deliver an important message about teamwork, ignoring rumors and redemption. Possible Spoiler Alert! Teen, 13 years old Written by DippG13 November 15, Pretty good game but the storyline This game has excellent characters, mechanics and music. When I was a child, I loved it! But the storyline is a bit too childish and random. I won't remove any star because I know it's made for children so it's logical to have this kind of storyline. Edit: Now for the swearing thing, I think that parents are really overreacting! I mean, there are worse words that "hell", "crap" and "idiot". Teen, 16 years old Written by ATratosphere November 13, Meh Pretty lame through the first chapter, i feel like there should be more mechanics. Teen, 13 years old Written by Mr. Critic November 10, This game is the BEST how much games make you cry huh? ZERO this game is my favorite there is something wrong with you if you don't like it. Teen, 17 years old Written by Stranger-Things14 November 3, Very good!! If your kids do not know or have saw what Minecraft is. And challenging each other as a team, forgetting bullies. Kid, 9 years old October 2, There are people dying but who cares. There is no kissing or dating. I love this game. There are tons of violence but barely and no blood. A game that dissapoints me This game starts out well but soon the story begins to get stale and boring, the plot is predictable and the characters are annoying. The game is both too much like Minecraft and too different from Minecraft. Kids can easily play and comprehend this game. I hoped this game would be good. But it was just sad. Kid, 9 years old September 3, Language I think Minecraft Story Mode is fun, but has swearing. It could be bad for younger kids that say whatever they hear. Kid, 8 years old September 1, Parental guidance recommended. This is a better more "mature" spinoff of Minecraft, if you allow your kids to watch "Shrek" and "Total Drama" this is obviously fine for them. Too blocky for 4 stars. Kid, 8 years old August 25, I'm interested! I love this game! It's like Would You Rather! Amazing and fun game for older kids due to Mild language and violence. Kid, 10 years old August 7, To the people who are considering letting their child play this I first played this when I was 6 and I was thinking "why have I not played this before? The only thing I don't like is the way Ruben the pig died after coming out the wither storm. There are monsters, a few scary scenes and a few deaths. It is still a fun game to play. It's quite similar to minecraft but you get choices and exiting events happen. It's almost better. If you don't like this then at least see what it is by playing it. Just consider letting ur child play it. You get to choose your character all named Jesse out of I think six 3 girls 3 boys. Please consider it -kitkatcait Go to Common Sense Review.
