I thought I was pretty decent at the game, getting the ideal endings for the first three scenarios on the first try and not having too much trouble with Fall of Winterhome either. But I'm trying to do endless normal on the Crags now and the first storm is devastating. I end up with a bunch of sick and it puts me in a downward spiral, especially considering that it's already hard to get enough labor in this mode. What do I need to prioritize in order to have enough heat, coal, and food for this? Showing 1 - 10 of 10 comments. Zefnoly View Profile View Posts. Im trying to figure this out myself. I always fail horribly right before the first storm. I only survive on endless mode if I select "relaxed" mode which is by far too easy. And that is just boring at once. I know there is this curve in the beginning. But what gives I want to have fun but its hardly any way to know what strategy I should use. Last edited by Zefnoly ; 26 Sep, pm. For coal, I would recommend having the heating turned off during the day before the first temp drop. For food, sign the soup law asap. Turn on overdrive during storm? This will help increase temperature? Well this got long but this is my advice and tips for endless, guess closer to a guide if you dont want that feel free to skip it I'm having a slow day at work so had time to write. I would go without hazards at first till your used to it. This is all with extreme in mind. My tips: Overdrive from each night IF your houses are not liviable pre overdrive. This keeps sick down. Doing only from these times will not raise stress as it will reset before the next day. Stop doing so if a temp drop will happen and will need to use it. If not temp drop comming and houses liveable might as well still do this to get above livable for even less sick but norm use livable times to get stress back to 0 first. Get child labor and faith. Yes you can do without both but these are quite a bit easier than other options. After the storm you can work on fight arnea and discontent options to make the game easy from there. A hothouse is the single greatest labor saving use of cores. Per core you save more labor than any other option party since it allows use of exteneded shifts where hunters cant. While allowing you to pair it with child labor giving them key jobs and freeng up workers. You will need 1 hunter hunt starting night 3 2 if your a slower player till you get hothouses up if playing extreme to not run into food issues. Sell it after to free up workers and get most of the wood back. Don't bother getting its tech upgrade. Its not worth wasting tech time to go sawmill unless you are on the bridge map where you have to. As you will need to go wall drill at some point and wall drill is effect labor its worth going there early. Use wood sparingly till that point to not run out. You will not have enough cores for mines early on plus mines are not really worth the cores untill they reach advanced level. At steam there ok but still worse than hothouses per core at advanced there only on par. But thumpers give your kids jobs that alone makes them worth it. Its not till the end of the third storm I see enough cores to have spare to swap to mines norm at that point its not worth as can just go autos. I swap to autos after 3rd or 4th storm. In the even of a hazard that works on thumpers swap to charcol kiln as the temp fix. As wont have time to tech and swap both to kilns and hunters at the same time not worth the risk till after 3rd storm when you got all key tech anyways. You should have 3 houses of healing for the first storm. One is the one you always have staffed. The other two swap the workers from the hothouses into them to deal with sick or into gathing posts around a spare coal thumper or better a steam thumper ramping up to extra production for heat lvl 3. One steam thumper can power a base with 7 hubs used effectively at heat level 3 which is enough for first storm. Swap the workers back to food after the storm ends leave workers in each house of healing so the sick don't get kicked out till there healed thou. Tips for the early game: Have two med bays one night 1 other night 2. Have 2 workshops day 1. Use gather posts early and often. I have 4 that I use as of day 3 with the first made on day 1 and 2 added on the first night. As exteneded shift triggers first night having the posts up gets you a lot more resources. Use 24 hour shifts to clear the wood and steal piles that cant be cleared by posts. There is norm 4. I have 10 workers on day 1 working on one steal pile that cant be hit and 15 on 2 wood piles that cant be hit turn 24 hour shift on those two wood piles right away at the start. When the wood is clear set them on the other steel pile you havent touched yet that cant be hit by the posts and set 24 hour shift the other steel pile will be cleared without 24 hour. This get these cleared all within 3 days. Change the timing if weather starts lower. As you got 2 workshop 2 med bays but not enoguh eng you will dance them early game. When workshops are open full staff them. When workshops are closed move 5 eng to med bays to help heal overnight. If less close the one with less patients and send all 5 back from the other. Tech build I recommended: Beacon look for survivors via only going 2 nodes in looking for a survivor nodes name if you dont see head to another path NOT deeper they wont be deeper, doing so lets 1 scout team almost over all spot pre storm alone a 2nd later will cover all easy. If you feel there is enough time getting pre bunkhouses is worth as you will need the steel for them. If you got 2 workshops from day 1 on exteneded constantly working getting a shrine on them instantly once you get that law you will miss gen 3 for the first storm. You need to add a 3rd and ideally 4th workshop as early as you can to get gen heat 3 for first storm. This is on extreme. Skip auto and med tech till after 3rd storm and don't upgrade stuff you dont need eg dont get hunter if you dont need to go hunters due to a hazard it waste your time. You should only need 2 steam hubs for houses at most by this point. Turn it OFF when only one is open and on when 3 is open. Use heaters otherwise. Using heaters on all workplaces durring storm assuming you had a resource depot to take the edge of of saved coal pre storm. You want a resource depot of food and coal pre storm ideally. After the first storm use 1 scout team to look for survivors in close areas first 2 nodes again while the other one goes deep looking for steam cores to upgrade the hothouses. I would get the 3rd scout right away at this point and I get industral hothouse so you can sell one to get the core back and upgrade or upgrade both if you find cores as food will be getting tight depending how many surviors you found. If food is tight drop some hunter huts to take the edge of or send both scout groups deep to increase the odds of getting cores and reduce the odds of more mouths to feed. You should find 2 survivor groups per first storm and 1 group every storm after. You CAN find 3 before the first storm if you do make sure you drop a hunter hut or two or you will run out of food you dont need to tech them but you can after first storm if you want. These are just to take the edge of as you got more survivors that my build is based around. If you want further advice just ask ideally post some screens of your build. I did not go that order at all. I used hunters: you need two pretty early on even with soup to feed everybody and it's really manpower consuming I only used 24h shift only once not to get death from it but it looks like it doesnt kill that much as I remembered. I already had enough discontent with the extended shift I pretty much tried to rush engineer automaton, before storm 2 to get enough tech. After storm 2, I was almost set for the days challenge. Will try your order next time. Last edited by Bobywan ; 26 Sep, pm. Originally posted by Buwaro Elexion :. Last edited by Bobywan ; 27 Sep, am. Originally posted by Bobywan :. The sick will stack up and you won't be able to recover from that. A good start is most important. At You need 1 Workshop, 2 Medical Posts. Then wait a few minutes for the request for shelter, because you want to get the bonus. Then build shelter for everyone. If you manage that, no one dies even though the generator is off On day two I also go wood and I micro 35 steel for the Beacon. In the evening I build 1 Hunter's Hut first, so it can still go hunting that day. The only insulation that is worthless is the cookhouse. Because heaters will always make up for it. That's the core rush. Then you can use emergency shifts without people dying Also faith is easier than order. Last edited by RataSellarda Jorge21 ; 28 Sep, am.
