I have only been playing Factorio for 4 months, and am totally addicted. However, my first game has reached a blah state satellite launches and counting and my second game has just passed satellite launches. So, I decided to check out the mods and try one. My interest was snagged by the Space Exploration mod. It appears to have added a plethora of new stuff to build, explore, etc. However, there doesn't appear to be a wiki on it, like I have been heavily dependent on for the main game. Is there a wiki for this mod? If so, what's the address? Could someone else who has added and is using this mod give some advice on the best way to learn it? Or is it just "sit down, strap in and go for it? Are there other mods that it would be advisable for me to try first before this one? The Industry mod is offered in 0. Can I install the 0. I'm just "going for it", but not much advice to give yet as I've only just built the two rocket silos and haven't travelled to the other surfaces, etc. I guess The utility mod FNEI or similar would be highly recommended for traversing the recipe tree in most cases. As for alternate modpacks for a first-timer Going through the AAI Industry chain is a good warmup in this pack, and the space sciences look like they'll get get somewhat complex, on top of which there's the logistical challenge of shipping resources between surfaces now. Perhaps consider launching a rocket with just all of Bobs mods installed to get your feet wet in modded. Mods need to match game version. Other than some annoyances that likely won't be changing, 0. Fel View Profile View Posts. AAI signals does have a 0. Thanks, guys! All good advice! Wait, scratch that, I didn't notice that he made a new mod called signal transmission that doesn't have a 0. So I went around to the space exploration mod to double check and that mod is also only available in 0. Sorry for the mistakes and possible confusion. Originally posted by Fel :. It's a bit like what I say to brand new Factorio players - discover your own solutions rather than just downloading blueprints or parroting other people's builds verbatim. First time launching a cargo rocket to get space research going I was concerned about losing my 70k science packs without getting a landing pad ready in orbit first fortunately the dev is more forgiving :P. You only get that kind of experience going in blind. Last edited by vts ; 1 Jun, pm. Originally posted by HeTiCu7 :. Last edited by HeTiCu7 ; 1 Jun, pm. I know it sounds great to start them on a save that already has the science packs produced and all that but for most of the mods that add and change recipes or tech it's the best way to have very weird things happening instead. That's pretty much it, and both when adding and removing mods. The exceptions are mods that are the so called "quality of life" because those usually do not add items, alter recipes or make any changes to technologies. FNEI from the first reply is one of those "quality of life" mods, all it does is add an interface for you to browse through various the recipes and uses of each item, all it does is read the data without changing anything so it can be added or removed on the fly with no impact to your save. Thanks, Fel! Good to know! Btw, one other question: I saw on Bob's mods page that 3 or 4 mods say "deprecated" beside them. I had to look that word up on Wiktionary, and def 3 for computer use says: "Obsolescent". That means that the mod has become obsolete, useless, but is still available, right? So if I decide to play with Bob's mods on a new game, I shouldn't include the "deprecated" mods, right? Well, technically it's a bit more complex than that but in this case you can safely ignore the deprecated mods. Bob's config and bob's research progress saver are no longer maintained or needed since the base game incluses what those mods were doing and bob's inserter migration was only needed when updating bob's mods to a specific version because massive changes were made in that specific version, but it was 2 years ago and the only reason it is still on the mod portal is because maybe someone somewhere happens to still need it. Clock is also not specifically needed unless you really need to know the ingame time. Per page: 15 30 Date Posted: 31 May, pm. Posts: Discussions Rules and Guidelines.
