Why is a game like DOOM Eternal that is just not competitive what so ever, using such a high level anti-cheat? Are people really cheating in the multiplayer of DOOM? I think of doom as single player first, well before multiplayer comes to mind. The game has multiplayer. That is a reason to use anti-cheat. That doesn't make this a good move, but it's not like there is absolutely no reason to include it. Would be neat if this sort of thing created a big backlash, though. Then, maybe the company changes their approach. I am thinking of releasing Singleplayer and Multiplayer as separate Games. Make the multiplayer game free if the user bought the singleplayer game or something like that.. Or maybe make the multiplayer part into Standalone DLC. Free for people who bought the singleplayer. Paid for people who only by the standalone DLC. Either way we would end up with a clean single player application and only once someone purposefully wants to install the multiplayer bit will some Anti Cheat stuff be installed.
